Anxiety & Stress
In March 2023, 20% of UK adults reported feeling anxious most or all of the time in the previous two weeks.
Women are twice as likely to be diagnosed with anxiety disorders than men. The most common cause of stress is work-related, with 79% of people saying they frequently experience it.

Phobia & Fears
There has been a rise in phobias in the adult poplulation over the past 20 years.
The prevalence of phobias is broadly similar in both men and women. Phobias respond remarkably well to hypnotherapy, which frequently outperforms convential approaches.

Low confidence & Self esteem
Research consistently links low self-esteem to anxiety, depression and social withdrawal.
Hypnotherapy is widely used to work directly with the unconsciouss beliefs that underpin persistent low selfworth, which often resist change through logic or willpower alone.

Sleep (Insomnia)
In 2024, a study published in the British Medical Journal found that 29% of UK adults self-report insomnia symptoms.
Roughly 54% of women say they do not get enough sleep compared to 41% of men.
Insomnia is highly persistent with many still report symtoms a year later making this one of the most enduring conditions.

Self-Help
Aikido 'One-Point'
Place your hand on you lower abdomen (roughly 2-4 inches below the naval) and focus your mind into your hand. Keep this focus for the slow count of 10 - longer if necessary.
When the mind rests in that place, in the abdomen, the body naturally relaxes and helps to 'ground' you.
Keeping 'one-point', helps keep you present, centred and reduces tension in the shoulders.
This helps achieve relaxation and mental calmness.

Self-Help
7-11 Slow Breathing
A relaxation technique for anxiety.
Breathe in SLOWLY. through your nose for the count of 7, focussing and expanding your belly rather than your chest...... then exhale SLOWLY for the count of 11, letting your belly contract. Repeat for 2-4 minutes.
If 7/11 is too difficult, try 3/5 or even 4/8.
Breathing out longer than breathing in directly reduces heart rate and lowers emotional arousal. In this way, you distract the mind from anxious thoughts.
